We are here to help, so please ask!
Mrs. Bland, Teacher-Librarian

Teachers bring classes to the library for research and instruction, and the library, a designated quiet area, is one option for students during commons or study hall.
ATTENDANCE
From commons: arrive before the bell rings with your ID which we will scan.
During lunch periods (11th-12th graders only): arrive before the bell rings with your ID which we will scan.
Freshmen: sign out at study hall, check in promptly at the circulation desk when you arrive with your teacher’s pass and ID which we will scan.
Tardy? You must have a teacher-signed pass to enter the library. Plan ahead!
ATMOSPHERE
Students will contribute to the peaceful, quiet atmosphere by engaging in the following approved activities:
~ Keep conversations private (whisper to those at your table).
~ Leave the blinds and furniture arranged as you found them (no more than 4 to a table).
~ Clean your area of papers, food and drinnk containers (no food or drink by the computers.)
~ Engage your mind by reading, writing, researching, studying, with homework, Set, Scrabble or chess.
~ Study silently in the back Reference area.
COMPUTERS & CELL PHONES
Using the school computers is a privilege that comes with necessary restrictions (no games, no Facebook, etc.) Cell phones must be off/silent and out of sight in the library. Please be responsible!
Finding Books & Information
RESEARCH DATABASES
The library purchases several online databases each year to provide you with current, credible information for personal and academic research. To use these from home, access them via the library website or the library’s Facebook page. You will need the passwords. Pick up a password card in the library, or email your teacher or Mrs. Bland.
CHECKING OUT MATERIALS
Any student without overdue or lost books may check out library materials, up to five items.
NEW PROCEDURE (as of 8/2011): We strive to send renewal reminders to all students in advance of their due dates, as texts sent via a Google account or as emails. Students may always opt to have the reminders go to a parent's email instead.
3 week loans: Fiction, Nonfiction, Story Collections, Graphic Novels, Audio Books
3 day loans : Reference, Magazines, Films, Flash Drives
HOLDS or RENEWALS
You may always ask us to place a hold on an item for you or to renew your library materials. You can also log in to the online catalog to place holds, view your checkouts, and renew library materials. All resources may be renewed twice before the due date (unless someone else is waiting). By logging in, you can also submit ratings and write reviews!
FINES
Late fees accumulate on school days only, at $.10 per day. If you pay the fine when you return the resource, we'll cut your fine in half! If you have not returned an item 60 days overdue, we consider it “lost.” You then owe the item’s replacement cost OR the material plus a $5.00 re-shelving fee. Although we send overdue reminders in a variety of ways, you are responsible for maintaining your library account.
